I’m trying something a little different this week. And if this works I’d like to keep doing it. Here’s a time-lapse of my drawing process up through inking. This is about 3.5 hours worth of work condensed down to 2 minutes. At the end, you get a look at the comic in black and white and then finally in color.
NOTE: There is no sound. I’m thinking maybe in the future I might do some commentary… What do you guys think?
You can see I’m pretty “old school” with my process. This is Canson Vellum Bristol paper. That’s an Ames guide for lettering. I use a a bunch of different tools to ink - A Gasenfude brush pen, various dipping pens, Microns etc. (BONUS: Spot the thumbtack being used for about two seconds around 1:38!) Tell me if you want to know more about this stuff!
Inside the Sketchbook…
This week you get a glimpse of me dressing Galley up as a detective. I actually liked this so much I turned it into a sticker. Galley occasionally dresses up as a detective to figure out what exactly is going on at the library. (The hat helps, I swear!)
